Clergy from across the Eastern Diocese gathered today at
New York’s St. Vartan Armenian Cathedral to receive the Holy Muron—the holy oil
employed in all the church’s sacramental anointing services. Archbishop Khajag
Barsamian, Diocesan Primate, celebrated the Divine Liturgy and distributed
vessels containing the holy oil to the clergy.
The Holy Muron was prepared at Holy Etchmiadzin and
blessed by His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All
Armenians, in September. His Holiness proclaimed this year’s Muron the “Muron
of Victory” in commemoration of the centennial year of the Armenian Genocide.
On Sunday, November 15, all parishes across the Diocese
will conduct a special “Blessing of Water” service with the new Holy Muron. For
