Armenians in 2115: Strategic Directions for the Twenty-first Century

Dear Friends, You are invited to USC on Tuesday morning January 26, at 9 am, to participate in a  3-city LIVE conversation about Armenians in 2115: Strategic Directions for the Twenty-first Century.  The USC Institute is proud to be one of three sites — Yerevan, London, Los Angeles — where we will discuss this thought-provoking Gulbenkian Foundation report and its findings.

On the USC Campus, the discussion and live streaming will take place in Hedco Neuroscience Building, Room 100. Below are links to directions to parking structure X and map of the location of the event. It is at most a 10-minute walk from the parking structure to the discussion site. These are the locations and panelists:

•          London — London School of Economics 

o          Panelists: Armine Ishkanian and Hratch Tchilingirian; chaired by Razmik Panossian.

•          Yerevan — American University of Armenia

o          Panelists: Samuel Samuelyan, Mark Grigoryan and Arman Jilavyan; chaired by Armen Der Kiureghian

•          Los Angeles – USC Institute of Armenian Studies

o          Panelist: Raffy Ardhaljian; chaired by Salpi Ghazarian

The overall chair and coordinator of the discussion will be Martin Essayan, Trustee of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, participating from London. In October 2014, the Armenian Communities Department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation organized a strategy seminar in Lisbon entitled “Armenians in 2115.” Forty prominent leaders, intellectuals and experts attended. The objective of the seminar was to look ahead and identify the challenges the Armenian people currently face, and are likely to face in the foreseeable future. The seminar report has now been published by the Gulbenkian Foundation under the title of Armenians in 2115: Strategic Directions for the Twenty-First Century. The report will be formally released on 26 January 2016 in English, and Eastern Armenian. It is approximately 40 pages. The intention is to instigate debate within the Armenian world regarding some of these fundamental challenges, encouraging future-oriented strategic thinking and research.
